When in use, the glass on your stove or fireplace can quickly become blackened, preventing you from fully enjoying the beauty of the flames. Here are our 3 recommendations for enjoying a perfect view of the flames!
With a glass cleaner
There are specific products available for cleaning your fireplace glass; these are specially designed to quickly and effectively remove soot and tar buildup from the glass.
We recommend Magic Feu products, as they are manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner and are among the most effective. Plus, they’re easy to use:
- Apply the product to a cloth or paper towel
- Clean the glass (it can be warm, but not hot)
- Repeat the process if this is not enough to get the glass clean. If this product isn’t strong enough, there’s also a more powerful glass cleaner available
Cleaning with Ash
This old-fashioned technique works surprisingly well on wood-burning stoves. The stove must be cool before you begin cleaning.
- Take a cloth and dampen it with water
- Dip one corner of the cloth into fine ash taken directly from your stove’s ash pan
- Apply the water-ash mixture directly to the glass
- Use a damp cloth to wipe away any remaining streaks
